Warning Signs
How to tell your spring is going.
Catching it early saves the opener, the door, and a bigger repair bill. Watch for these.
Loud bang
A sudden snap from the garage is the classic sign a torsion spring let go.
Door won't open
The opener strains or stops — it can't lift the door's full weight without the spring.
Visible gap in spring
A 1–2 inch gap in the coil above the door means it's broken.
Jerky movement
The door shudders, hesitates, or moves unevenly as it travels.
Crooked / one-sided
One side lifts faster, leaving the door tilted in the opening.
Slams shut
The door drops fast instead of lowering smoothly — a safety hazard.

Know Your Door
Torsion vs. extension springs.
Two systems do the heavy lifting. We service and replace both — and fit the right one for your door.
Torsion springs
Mounted on a shaft above the door. Common on modern doors — durable and balanced. Standard and high-cycle options available for longer life.
Extension springs
Run along the horizontal tracks on each side. Found on many older or lighter doors. We replace in pairs with safety cables.
High-cycle upgrade
Rated for more open/close cycles — a smart choice for doors used many times a day. Ask if it's right for your home.

Common Questions
Spring repair FAQs
Can you replace a broken spring the same day?
We carry torsion and extension springs for most door types and can often respond same day. Call (737) 347-1246 to discuss scheduling.
Should I use my door with a broken spring?
No. The door becomes dangerously heavy and the opener can be damaged. Springs are under high tension — don't force it, and leave the repair to a trained technician.
Torsion or extension — which do I have?
Torsion springs sit on a shaft above the door; extension springs run along the side tracks. We service both and fit the right type for your door.
Is the replacement under warranty?
Yes — installed parts carry a 3-year parts warranty and labor a 90-day labor warranty.
How long does a spring replacement take?
Most replacements are done in about an hour on site. If the failure also damaged cables, rollers, or the opener, we'll walk you through the added time and price before we start — no surprises.
Why did my spring break?
Springs wear out from normal use — each one is rated for a set number of open/close cycles. Cold snaps, rust, and missed lubrication shorten that life. A spring that snapped after years of service has usually just reached the end of its cycle life.
Can I replace a garage door spring myself?
We don't recommend it. Springs are under extreme tension and cause serious injuries every year. The job needs the correct replacement spring, winding bars, and proper technique — leave it to a trained, insured technician.
Do you replace both springs or just the broken one?
If your door uses two springs and one breaks, we usually recommend replacing both. They wear at the same rate, so a second failure is rarely far behind — doing the pair now saves you another service call later.
Which areas do you cover for spring replacement?
We cover Cedar Park, Austin, and the Greater Austin area — including Round Rock, Pflugerville, Georgetown, and Leander. Call (737) 347-1246 to confirm same-day availability for your address.
